The Hylian boy in green and the Yellow fairy called as Tatl woke up inside the Clock Tower. From the place, they had first time met the Salesman, the man, who could return Link to normal, if he would get his ocarina back.
Link thought for a second.
He had it!
But what had happened? Didn't the Moon fall? Also Tatl was so confused she was speechless. They both remembered just playing the Song of Time and then they were here... Like nothing had really happened. Though, Link was still a deku...
"Ho-ho-ho! Did you manage to get your precious item back?", a familiar but somehow creepy sound was heard. The Salesman was still here. Still inside the Clock Tower. "Well done", the man said and had a seat from the chair in front of a huge piano, that could not be played completely by one human. Oh well, if you for some reason own ten unnatural long hands maybe then.
But what was more strange in that instrument was that, it hadn't been there a second ago. It just popped out from the air! How did the Salesman do it?
"Follow along after me", the Salesman laughed and started to play somehow sad song, that somehow also made you relaxed and feel free. Suddenly the sound of the huge piano, wasn't so loud. Actually, it was pretty quiet.
Link took out he's ocarina, though, it was now a tuba and started to play along with the song. Link played the instrument surprisingly well. Somehow he just knew what to do. He also was a bit worried; what if he'd play it wrong? Would he return only half of himself back to normal?
He didn't like the idea.
The song wasn't long but when it ended, it seemed to be stuck in Link's head. Suddenly Link saw something. Black. Pitch black. This reminded the moment he had turned into deku because of Skull Kid...
But now he wasn't alone in the darkness. The huge deku he couldn't escape at the last time was there. Link let out a gasp, but the he noticed something. The deku was getting smaller. Smaller and smaller until it disappeared. Link sighed. What a relief. Goodbye deku! Hope I'll never see you again!
Something dropped on the floor of the Clock Tower. Link looked at the floor. It was a mask. A deku mask. The boy took few steps closer and pick up the brown wooden mask. Then he realized something.
He's hands were normal.
"Hey! Link!" Tatl finally got words coming out of her mouth, "How do you feel? At least you look normal...!"
Link dropped the mask and touched he's face. It wasn't wooden. Link looked around himself and found no mark of deku. Link smiled and sighed. He looked at the Salesman who's piano had suddenly disappeared again.
"Thank you", Link said since he was pretty polite child. Even he had grown up without parents or pretty happy childhood.
"Hey!" Tatl snapped out and anyone could have hear she was angry. Like she always was. "Are you ignoring me!?"
The Salesman reached he's hand to Link.
"Would you hand it over, please?"
Link looked at the waiting hand of the Salesman pretty confused, until he remembered he's promise. The mask. He had promised to return it to salesman.
"... Don't say...", Always smirking Salesman said, "You still haven't... Got it... Back..."
"Well, um..." Link didn't have a chance to continue he's story, when the Salesman grabbed he's shoulders and started to shake him wildly.
"You promised to bring it back!", the Salesman shouted. He was not smirking anymore. On he's face was now a horrible grimace. "Horrible things will happen, if you don't return it!!"
"Let him go!" Said the fairy, who had decided to be on the Link's side this time. "It took forever to find Skull Kid! And now we even have to stop the Moon's fall!" No-one had said that, but Tatl knew Link wouldn't just let the town squish under the huge rock floating in the Sky.
Salesman let go and started to whine about the chaos and tragedy. Link took a deep breath and glimpsed the Salesman. He was mad! He had almost strangled Link!
"You promised to get it back! You're the only one who can do it!" The Salesman begged, "Please! Only 72 hours time! Get back my mask!"
Link thought for a second while Tatl fussing around him and checking was the boy okay. Did the Salesman say 72 hours? That's three days... He had said that deadline three days ago! What in the... Link didn't know it was possible but somehow, seemed like he had returned to the day he had first time met the Skull Kid. He had traveled back in time...
But he still had a promise. Link's conscience wouldn't let him broke it. Even there was only three days time. Besides all the chaos and doom the Salesman was talking about didn't sound good... He had to return the Majora's Mask. Link felt like he hadn't a chance.
But how could he do it? How could he save the town nad get the Majora's Mask?
Link thought about the moment when he last time had met the Skull Kid on the top on the Clock Tower. Tael, Tatl's brother, had said something of the Four People. It sounded important. Maybe with their help, Link would be able to stop the Moon and so save the village. And maybe get the Mask back.
There was no proves this plan would work, but he had to try.
"I'll return it", Link promised and pick up the deku mask he had dropped. Link wondered did he seem like this while he was a deku.
"I know you'd say that", the Salesman laughed and started to smirk again. He seemed normal again. Or at least as normal as a weirdly smirking crazy man could be. He noticed Link looking at the deku mask interested.
"That mask... It's a Deku Mask. Wear it, and you'll be able to change back to deku again", the Salesman explained. Unfortunately Link didn't like that idea at all. He would be gladly just a human.
"And when you take the mask off, you'll return back to normal again. Take it with you. I'm sure it will be for use..."
Link looked at the Salesman. Would he trust a man, who had just almost strangled him?
Link placed the mask in his pocket. Yes. Yes he would.
"You still remember the song I just taught to you?" Te Salesman wanted to know. Link nodded.
"It's called the Song of Healing. It has many mystical powers. You can even heal a soul with it... Remember it well"
Link nodded again, since he didn't like talking very much. Tatl, who didn't had had any chance for talking got bored. After all, she was pretty chatty fairy.
"Link! We're wasting our time! Let's go!"
Link looked at Tatl. Wasting time? Was getting some important information waste of time?? The boy sighed. He didn't like the way the fairy talked to him. But he had decided to leave anyway, so he followed the yellow fairy to the door. Just before opening the door he turned once to see the Salesman.
"Trust in your powers... Trust in them", he said.
The Link turned around and opened the door of the Clock tower already the second time to this sunny morning.
Second time to the first day.
Tatl sighed, "The shortest way to the Swamp is from the South Gate", it started to give some instructions. It was smart. They had three days time to find the Four people from four places that Tael had mentioned. Tatl decided to start from the Swamp, since Tael had said it first from the Four places. They would visit the places in the order the purple fairy had said.
Tatl started to fly to South the boy after her.
It didn't took long to get to the South gate, since the Clock Town was pretty small. Then Link saw the soldier. He had completely forgot them! Link decided to try to get trough the gate anyway. But right when Link got close enough the soldier sharpened and blocked his way.
"What business do you have in the Swamp?", The soldier started his speech, "It's dangerous outside the town and I can't let a child like y-" the soldier noticed Link's sword he had had back while transforming back to human.
"Wait... Is that... A sword?" the man gulped and stepped aside. "Excuse me, sir. It was wrong from me to treat you like a child. But be careful outside."
Link ran out from the gate before the soldier would change his mind. Did he get trough because of the sword? Was that some kind of symbol of being an adult? Just weird...
The Hylian boy and his fairy had arrived to a large area of grass. To Link, it seemed like the Hyrule Field. Though the air smelled different. Link looked at the road, that would lead straight to the Swamp. To the place, he would find one of the Four People. A person, he didn't know anything about. But it should not stop him.
Link started to run along the road. Three days, 72 hours.
He'd make it.
